About me and my approach

I am a qualified and experienced integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I run a private practice in Stroud, Gloucestershire. I’ve previously worked at Mind in Enfield in London and Cotswold Counselling in Cirencester.

I have been trained in a range of different theories and take an integrative approach in my practice. This means that I am able to draw upon a range of theories depending on what I feel would benefit each individual client. This flexible way of working acknowledges that we’re all different. The main theories I integrate in my practice are: psychodynamic theories, specifically Object Relations and Attachment Theory, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis.

My practice is trauma-informed. I am aware of the profound impact that trauma can have on individuals and on all of us collectively. I also believe deeply in our resilience as human beings, and our ability to heal in the right environment with the right support. I focus on collaborating with my clients, empowering them, ensuring they always feel safe.

My approach is also relational: along with the issues you bring to explore in therapy, I’m interested in, and pay attention to, the relationship between us and the way you relate to yourself. This provides valuable insight, often making us aware of unconscious patterns of thinking and behaviour so they can be understood and challenged.

I have experience working with depression, anxiety, domestic abuse, childhood sexual abuse, rape, bereavement, family and relationship difficulties, alcohol problems, anger, eating disorders, existential issues and self-esteem issues. I have a particular interest in infertility, pregnancy loss, the postnatal period, breastfeeding grief, birth trauma and the journey into motherhood.

Together, we can create a comfortable and safe space in which we can untangle and process the difficulties and challenges life throws at you.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I am listed on their register, which is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. I regularly see a confidential clinical supervisor to support my work and have full professional insurance.
